The Federal Government of Nigeria has promised to sanction a US based media company, CNN, over its recent broadcast on the purported shootings of peaceful #EndSARS protesters that happened on October 20, 2020 by soldiers at the Lekki toll plaza
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed showed his grievances and described the report by the foreign news channel as “irresponsible journalism”.
Furthermore, the minister revealed this information at a press conference in Abuja today organized to address crises that erupted after the popular #EndSARS protests that rocked the entire nation last month.
He further described the incidence of October 20, 2020 as a “massacre without bodies”, emphasizing that not a single body has been identified or a any family has come out to the public to prove that any of their family member was killed or maimed at the Lekki tollgate.
The minister maintained that CNN depended on social media video without proper investigation to produce its report. “This should earn CNN a serious sanction for irresponsible reporting,” Mohammed said.
